The ‘Drop Bar’ lamp is a striking sculptural piece that would be a welcome addition to any interior.

Having spent many years submerged in water, the recycled timber has taken on a very unique patina, having soaked up dirt, mud and minerals from the water. The result is a rich, mahogany coloured wood with streaks of ebony.

The Drop Bar lamp features antique style components such as the filament light globe which gives the lamp and old world feel and a beautiful warm glow.

History  The ‘Drop Bar’ lamp is made from recycled Murray River Redgum which has spent its life submerged under water in the irrigation channels of Victoria’s Goulburn Valley, one of Australia’s largest food growing regions . Towards the end of the last drought the controversial ‘north-south’ pipeline was constructed and had many farmers and residents in the region furious with the outcome and viewed the pipeline as simply a way to grab votes. The pipeline diverts water from irrigation farming land in the states north to the city of Melbourne in a bid to assure the city’s water security. As a trade off for the pipeline the irrigation infrastructure of the region was upgraded and the timbers previously used in the irrigation channels became obsolete.
